Sports funding

Two issues relating to government sports promotions have been in the news in recent weeks-namely the government funding for Team New Zealand this Americas Cup, and the Giant rugby Ball to promote New Zealand near Paris’ Eifel Tower. I’m not an expert on the descisons, and the experts can judge them on the cost benefit economic ratio. Things like the Americas cup can be an important show-case for our Nations boat building industry, and if we win good for tourism, while the Rugby World Cup can help give New Zealand publicity on the world stage, and this, with the giant rugby ball expo, help increase tourism. Descisons like these can be considered investments in our countries economy, which is why I support them if the numbers stack up. I’m not the one to judge if they are good or bad investments.
